Paul Dano Is Gonna Play ‘Batman’ Villain The Riddler Instead Of Jonah Hill

I am delighted every time I see Paul Dano in film. He is excellent in Prisoners, held his own against Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, and his delivery of the word “fuck” in Little Miss Sunshine is transcendent.

That’s a roundabout way of saying I’m happy for Dano, and for myself, given reports he will play The Riddler in the upcoming Batman flick.

Variety states the dude is in advanced talks with Warner Bros. Studios to appear opposite Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.

The role reportedly went to Dano after negotiations stalled with the original choice for the role, Mr Jonah Hill. It’s casting which was unimaginable ten years ago, but here we are.

Director Matt Reeves‘ project is expected to enter production late this year or early next, with an eye to hit cinema screens in 2021.

That gives Dano time to wrap up his work on Jane Campion‘s The Power Of The Dog, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Moss; it also gives him a minute to reflect on the fact he is now a celebrated director in his own right, after guiding Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan in Wildlife.

It’s all coming up Dano, baby! Now, go watch Prisoners again. We’ll wait.
