The show is not a sequel or reboot of the BBC America cult series, but rather a show telling a new story with new characters within the same universe as the original.

Orphan Black producer Temple Street Productions is said to be on board with the concept and will meet with writers to suss out the scope of the story.

The series ran from 2013 to 2017 with a total of five seasons and starred Tatiana Maslany as a woman who discovers she has multiple clones.

The sci-fi juggernaut scored many awards and nominations throughout its run including two Critics’ Choice Television Awards for Maslany’s portrayal of several clones along with four Satellite Award nominations, and one Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, to name just a few.

Reactions to the news have been mixed, with many fans demanding that any future Orphan Black activity be strictly Tatiana Maslany-focused or they can keep it.

If you, like the above angry Twitter users, would prefer to enjoy an Orphan Black with queen Tatiana, suss out the entire OG series via streaming giant Stan.
