One In Ten Aussies Watched The ‘MAFS’ Finale Which Feels Significant Somehow

Yesterday’s Married At First Sight finale featured one of the show’s gnarliest insults, but Cyrell Paule‘s takedown of Martha Kalafatidis might also be the most-viewed burn in the show’s history.

Mumbrella reports the episode was watched by nearly 1.86 million viewers in metro areas, combining with viewers in regional areas for a total of 2,448,000 nationwide.

That means nearly one in ten Australians clocked Channel Nine‘s prized reality show-slash-trainwreck, and the moment Cyrell called literally everything about Kalafatidis “fake”.

The ramifications of this will surely be felt for generations to come.

Married At First Sight dominated its timeslot rivals in each key demographic, once again proving that people pouring wine all over each other makes for insanely profitable television.

The episode also eclipsed last year’s finale, which boasted a comparatively normal 2.4 million viewers nationwide.

It is yet to be seen what last night’s episode does for the Australian wine market, but we can only assume some brand manager is cheering about their drop being wasted on Australia’s guiltiest pleasure.
