The ‘Offspring’ Cancellation Rumours Grow Stronger As Asher Keddie Weighs In

Of all the current Aussie TV dramas, Offspring is the best. Don’t even try and argue with me – it’s got family warm-and-fuzzies, realistic portrayals of relationships and motherhood, weird musical sequences that come out of nowhere and an absolutely, adorably batshit lead in Nina Proudman.

Also, does anyone else have an ongoing argument running with their sister about who is the Nina and who is the Billie? Kate, I’m the Nina. Just deal with it.

Scary rumours circled last year that Offspring might not return – like, not even a warning of a final season, just no continuation from 2017’s season 7.

Now, Asher Keddie – come on, you know Asher is Nina Proudman, do I even need to say it – has told Herald Sun that, well, she hasn’t been contacted at all since season 7 wrapped mid last year.

‘The truth is I haven’t had a single conversation about it (Offspring) since we finished shooting back in May/June last year,’ she said.

YIKES, MATES.

Channel 10 haven’t made any statements as yet on the confirmed future of the show, but they did mention last year that they were undecided on whether it would return for an 8th season. As for Asher, she told Sunday Telegraph last year that she’d be OK with things ending after season 7.

‘There are different possibilities if we were to go again but I also feel like all the siblings in particular have gotten to quite a solid place in their emotional lives,’ she said. ‘It is quite satisfying at the end. There is a lovely note of ambiguity.’

NO ASHER. I don’t want ambiguity. I want everyone’s lives wrapped up in a tidy package. OK? I know you guys *think* you did that with (SPOILERS SPOILERS but also FFS mates if you haven’t watched Season 7 yet what are you even doing on this story) Nina having Harry’s baby and they’re happy and Billie’s got Dan and blah blah but no. I want some big final group hug and the ghosts of Patrick and Darcy! GIVE ME WHAT I WANT, DAMMIT.
