This New Queer Short Film About 2 Dudes Falling In Love Will Make You Piss Tears

Growing up as a closeted queer in the 90s, happy romantic endings were of course abundant in the cartoons, TV shows and movies I consumed, the only caveat though, was they were all exclusively for heterosexual couples.

So, hot dang, do I wish I could go back twenty years and show this new animated short-film ‘In A Heartbeat‘ to young Mitch, and maybe a bit of positive same-sex-attracted representation would have altered the increasingly embarrassing series of events we’ll call my teen years.

The film from filmmakers Beth David and Esteban Bravo out of Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida has absolutely gone off tits after being posted online yesterday, with almost 1.5 million views on YouTube alone.

The four-minute Pixar-esque animated film, a result of a tidy $3000 crowdfunding campaign, follows a young boy dealing with his crush on a male schoolmate as he literally battles with his heart to keep his increasing feelings at bay.

My gay little heart definitely made for a bit of misty-eyed viewing towards the end of this sublimely made, touching queer love story, so I recommend having a tissue at the ready.
