Righto, if you’ve been on Twitter lately then you may have noticed that a good chunk of it has gone full Hermione Granger trying to figure out if a new Harry Potter movie is in the works or not.
Personally, I don’t know how to feel. So I’m going to lay it all out for you.
On September 6 Rowling posted a picture of the Cursed Child logo which absolutely sent fans into a spiral because it was the first time she had tweeted anything in months. But here’s the thing – and I’m sorry to shit on your dreams here – but I reckon she only posted it because Cursed Child was unveiling a new… poster and had this big-ass event for it in New York.
On the same day as Rowling’s tweet, Pottermore announced: “‘Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places’ is the prophetic new tagline for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which has just revealed a sensational new look across its marketing artwork and venues around the world.”
So it makes sense its creator would tweet something for the event… with its new “prophetic quote”.

Sure, it’s anti-climatic as hell but we don’t have much else to cling onto here. Unless you count this tweet, which Pottermore went back two years to cheekily re-tweet ahead of the announcement. #classicmisdirection

Again, Rowling’s tweet about Cursed Child was her first since March. So fans now reckon that maybe something new is coming out of the Cursed Child saga, that maybe she spent time away from social media to work on this maybe-sorta-could-be-something-new.
Enter We Got This Covered, an outlet covering all things film and television. On the same day Rowling tweeted about Cursed Child, the publication fired off a report claiming Warner Bros. is working to adapt the story as a film. And Warner Bros. want the original three – Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson for it.
We Got This Covered is no random outlet which is probably why people are losing their shit here. The outlet reported on Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor way before Disney even announced it. The team also were one of the first to hop on Marvel’s plans for a She-Hulk TV show, and the live-action Aladdin sequel.
Its source for this potential Cursed Child movie is the very same one who blabbed about the above three projects so make of that what you will.
A Cursed Child movie will inevitably happen. You know that, I know that, everyone knows that. It’s just a matter of when.Image: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2
