Olivia Crain might not be returning for Netflix‘s second season of Haunting but Carla Gugino might be. Haunting, as it’s known as these days, will return for a second season next year. Alike Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story, fans can expect an anthology series with new characters and a whole new terrifying plot.

Earlier this week, Gugino spoke to The Wrap about maybe, possibly returning to the series. For the moment, all we really know is that season two, The Haunting of Bly Manor, will be based on the works of Henry James.

Gugino said she’s “talking a lot” with the show’s creator Mike Flanagan about Bly Manor.
“Well, I can’t say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honoured to,” she said.
Apart from Haunting, the pair have also worked on the film adaptation of Stephen King‘s Gerald’s Game together – another lovely, cheerful movie if you haven’t seen it on Netflix yet.
“So we’re talking a lot about it and we’ll just see if all schedules allow,” Gugino continued, adding the classic: “All I can say is I’m very excited for Season 2 and to see what Mike does.”

In The Haunting of Hill House, Gugino played the matriarch of the Crain family.
If you need a refresher: season one is based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson. We meet the stunning Crain family just as they move into Hill House, an old as hell estate they intend to flip for money.
The series switches between ‘then’ and ‘now’ a lot to show you just how messed up the family is after living in Hill House.
Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones) starred as the eldest Crain sibling and author of a horror series, Steven; Elizabeth Reaser (Twilight) played second eldest Shirley, a mortician; Kate Siegel as Theodora, the middle child; and the twins Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Luke and Victoria Pedretti as Eleanor ‘Nellie’ Crain.
Timothy Hutton starred as the dad and builder Hugh.
