Netflix’s New Teen Romcom ‘Tall Girl’ Looks Very Bad & I’m Absolutely Gonna Watch It

Tall Girl

You guys they’ve done it again. Netflix has unleashed another trailer for another teen romcom, and it looks very bad. Very, very bad and I can’t wait to watch it. The flick is called Tall Girl and it comes out next month.

At its heart, Tall Girl is about self-acceptance and that’s delightful. I love that. But Netflix has heaped a whole bunch of shit on top of it to really, you know, loosen your juices. I’m talking about the classic makeover montage, the supposed Mean Girl, and the cute Dude Best Mate Who’s Always Been In Love With You But Ya Just Don’t Know It… Yet.

So here’s the gist.

Jodie (Ava Michelle) stands at 6’1” and a half which I feel is bloody tall for a 16-year-old, and as a result she’s always felt super insecure about her height. People at school call her the Tall Girl and she hates it. By her side are her two loving and supportive best mates played by Anjelika Washington and Griffin Gluck, and her beauty queen sister Harper (Sabrina Carpenter).

One day everything changes when handsome exchange student Stig (Luke Eisner) arrives at school. He’s dreamy as hell and everyone froths him. As you’ll have it, Stig likes Jodie. Et voila, Jodie is thrust into a surprising love triangle that helps her realise that she’s far more than just her height.

I love this Netflix tagline the most: “Tall Girl is a heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age story about finding the confidence to stop slouching and stand tall.”

LOVE. Adding it to my Watch List as I type this.

Tall Girl hits Netflix September 13.

Friendly reminder: Netflix uploaded Falling Inn Love to the streaming giant on Thursday so if you haven’t streamed that romcom already, get to it. I have yet to watch it but my colleagues have. They even reviewed it and look, based on their chosen headline I say it’s a bloody beauty.
