Netflix Reboots ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ So You May Be Able To Help Solve One

Unsolved Mysteries

In some bloody quality news, the iconic true crime show Unsolved Mysteries is being rebooted by the almighty beings at Netflix.

The reboot, which will borrow from the beloved original, has Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy attached to it for – I assume – maximum chills. But, that’s not even the best bit because the show’s OG creators Terry Dunn Meurer and John Cosgrove are also involved in this new version.

Deadline reports that each of the 12 new episodes will explore a single mystery. The show will use re-enactments to tell the story of real-life mysteries and unsolved crimes, missing persons cases, and unexplained paranormal activity.

Unsolved Mysteries delighted and terrified true crime fans for years when it premiered on NBC in 1987, hosted by the late Robert Stack. After nine years on air, it made the switch to CBS for two seasons before it was cancelled due to poor ratings. In 2001, Lifetime debuted season 12 before it again made the jump to Spike and ended there after two seasons.

On Twitter, Netflix’s See What’s Next account described the reboot as a “modern take on the series that will once again look to viewers to help aid investigators in closing the book on long outstanding cases.”

It’s still incredibly early days so there’s yet to be an official release date but we’ll keep you posted… especially if a host is announced.

ON REPEAT.
