Nearly a year on from announcing its plans to reboot the beloved 2003 series Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, Netflix has revealed the five men who will be tasked with remaking the lives and wardrobes of hapless heterosexuals in the upcoming show.
The five, pictured above from left to right, are designer Bobby Berk, “culture maven” and former White House policy advisor Karamo Brown, professional chef Antoni Porowski, “superstar hairstylist” Jonathan Van Ness and clothing designer Tan France.
This new version of Queer Eye sounds like it will be a little different from the original, in that it will apparently go beyond grooming, styling and cooking advice to include a more woke political dimension. Per a press release from Netflix:
“Our new Fab Five will forge relationships with men and women from a wide array of backgrounds and beliefs often contrary to their own, touching on everything from LGBTQ rights and social commentary to how to make the best farm-to-table guacamole and more!”
Speaking at the reunion special for the original Queer Eye, which ran for five years, star Carson Kressley revealed that he only came out to his family after being cast in the show, telling host Andy Cohen:
“It was for me … really ironic that it took something like a makeover show for me to actually be honest and empowered, to get over that fear that your family is not going to love you for who you are.”
The revamped show will be streaming from February 2018.
