The first trailer for the Dolly Parton-lovin’, glammed-up musical comedy Dumplin’ has landed, in all it’s sequinned, southern America glory.

The flick, based on the 2015 young adult novel by Julie Murphy follows the life of Willowdean ‘Dumplin’ Dixon as she exists in the shadow of her mother – a former beauty pageant queen.

Willowdean, played by Aussie gal Danielle Macdonald, eventually gets sick of living in the wake of her mum (played by Jennifer Aniston with a healthy Texan drawl) and decides to sign up for the local Miss Teen Bluebonnet pageant in protest.

With a wider cast including Ginger Minj from Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Dolly Parton herself penning most of the original soundtrack, and the writing and directing team being all women (NICE), this one’s clearly going to end up on your feel-good movie list for those summer nights when it’s too hot to move.

Dumplin’ hits Netflix on December 7th over here, just in time for your summer movie sesh. Check out the trailer below and good luck getting ‘9 To 5‘ out of your head for the rest of the week.
