Netflix Pulls The Plug On Michelle Wolf And Joel McHale’s Talk Shows

Netflix has decided to officially cut The Break with Michelle Wolf and The Joel McHale Show reportedly because of a lack of viewership.

Both shows were sadly short-lived as The Break With Michelle Wolf only premiered back in May of this year and had 11 episodes altogether before it wrapped up in July. The Joel McHale Show made its debut in February and ran for 13 episodes a week on the streaming giant.

You may recognise McHale for his gig on Community. He often used his talk show for all things pop culture and news from around the world.

Remember when he absolutely roasted our love for Bachelor in Paradise?

Not even mad at him.

Similarly, Wolf used her weekly comedy gig to poke fun at a heck of a lot of things and people.

The Break, in particular, made quite a few headlines given it hit the service just a month after Wolf gave her set at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a set where she absolutely tore into US President Donald Trump and his administration.

Cast your minds back to that entire episode and you’ll remember some people got very upset at Wolf for her words on White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

However, despite the attention this generated it appears the headlines failed to translate into viewership.

According to Deadlinesources said not enough people had tuned into either show to warrant a series renewal.

When you think about it, it does kind of make sense. I’ve never really thought of Netflix as a service for late night talk show comedy.

But if that does float your boat, there’s still David Letterman’s My Guest Needs No Introduction and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. American comedian Hasan Minhaj, known for his work on The Daily Show, will dive into Netflix with his own talk show by the name of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. This will hit the streaming giant on October 28.
