There was once a time when diehard movie fans would worry about wearing out their VHS tapes, or feel a hot rush of shame the second, third, and tenth time they dropped a box set on the counter of a Video Ezy. Streaming services have alleviated both of those concerns by providing alternatives to physical media and the rental store, but a new suite of stats from Netflix shows habitual rewatching ain’t never going away, baby.
Netflix has revealed its most-rewatched original films globally in 2018, declaring that nearly 50% of viewers who caught The Kissing Booth and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before went back to watch ’em again. Trailing up in third place after those teen-centric rom-coms is rap drama Roxanne Roxanne.
The platform has been long been shy to actually publish ratings for its content, but the release does note the most-binged shows of the year as judged by average viewing time per session.
Unsurprisingly, the latest instalments of Making A Murderer, 13 Reasons Why, and American football docuseries Last Chance U punch up towards the top of the list, which is led by coming-of-age sitcom On My Block:

Echoing stats first released in October, Netflix also boasted that it has boosted the social media followings of new stars like Noah Centineo, Lana Condor, the entire Fab Five crew, and Australia‘s own Nanette standout Hannah Gadsby.
Sure, there’s still a lack of transparency around the actual number of viewers, but the platform’s end-of-year info dump does reveal a glimmer of the metrics Netflix seems to be focussed on.Image: Netflix
