Netflix Is Doing A ‘Between Two Ferns’ Movie Which Could Set A Cringe Record

Despite being a web short series with a mere 21 episodes to its name, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis is one of the most-watched and most popular series the internet has managed to produce wholly unto itself. So its really of no surprise that Netflix is now apparently on board to push the show to new heights. The only shock here? They’re doing it in feature film-form.

Between Two Ferns is reportedly being adapted into a full-length movie by the streaming giant, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter overnight. And more to that, production on the highly secretive project is to be already underway.

THR reports that the recurring Funny or Die series is being adapted by Netflix, with original co-creator Scott Aukerman at the directorial helm. Zach Galifianakis has, quite obviously, returned from his quiet mountain-town existence to star in the movie, which already has a murderer’s row of celebrity guests lined up, including the likes of Peter DinklageDavid LettermanKeanu Reeves, and Galifianakis’ Hangover co-stars Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper.

The OG run of Between Two Ferns ran on-and-off between 2008 and June of this year, and featured a raft of powerfully awkward interviews with people like Jon HammBruce WillisJennifer AnistonJennifer Lawrence, and Justin Bieber.

The show scored a pair of internet-breaking coups beginning in 2014 when then-President Barack Obama appeared on the show, while in 2016 then-Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton appeared in an episode that nabbed 30 million views in just 24 hours.

How a Between Two Ferns movie will shape up is anyone’s guess – all previous episodes have topped out at around the 6-minute mark. But either way, it’s a good thing. It’s a real, real, real good thing.
