Lord And Saviour Naomi Watts Will Lead The Huge ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel

Naomi Watts has been cast in a leading role in the upcoming Game Of Thrones prequel series, all but confirming the highly anticipated addition to George R. R. Martin‘s canon will be absolutely mint.

Deadline reports the local legend will play a defining role in the ensemble cast as an enigmatic socialite harbouring deep, dark truths thousands of years before Jon Snow is even born.

That’s right. Nobody who rocks up in Game Of Thrones will make an appearance in the prequel series, which will illuminate the most messed-up aspects of Westeros‘ arcane history.

Writer Jane Goldman and Martin will lead the project, and will be joined by producers whose previous work includes Bloodline, The Alienist, Orange Is The New Black, and Hannibal.

Notably, Game Of Thrones producers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will have nought to do with the prequel. That makes sense, too: after slogging away on the show for the better part of a decade, it makes sense they’d want to leave the White Walkers far, far behind.

No other cast members have been revealed. Here’s hoping Watts’ recent Twin Peaks: The Return castmate Kyle MacLachlan can make an appearance as some kind of wizened, psychic warlord. Make it happen, HBO.
