2,000 Punters Hiked Four Hours Up A Cliff To Watch ‘Mission: Impossible’

Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the sixth instalment in the action series is now in cinemas doing its thing. And by ‘thing’ I mean causing incredible stress through insane stunts, one of which resulted in frontman Tom Cruise smooshing his ankle against a building, grunting through the pain, and hobbling away to complete the scene.

That really did happen and really did make it into the movie.

Anyway, instead of hitting up their local Tightass Tuesdays, a couple thousand punters hiked up a steep cliff for an exclusive open-air viewing of the action flick more than 600 metres above a fjord called Lysefjord.

Preikestolen is a famous tourist attraction in Norway, and an actual location site in the film. If you’ve already seen the movie then you’ll recognise it as the setting in one of the scenes where Cruise is clinging to the side of a cliff like it’s no big deal. If not, you might have seen the still in about a gazillion promotions.

Norway especially, is extremely chuffed with the attention.

‘Tis the famous still:

To mark the event, Cruise posted a bloody insane picture of the event to his Twitter with the caption:

2,000 feat for 2,000 people, 4 hours of hiking. The most impossible screening of #MissionImpossible Fallout.

Thank you all for coming! I wish I could have been there.

I can barely walk up a flight of stairs so this entire thing is incredibly wild to me.

Fun fact per Visit Norway:

The six kilometre hike starts at the mountain lodge Preikestolen Fjellstue. Allow a total of four hours for this moderately demanding roundtrip that ascends 350 metres.

Yeah, alright.

Presumably to beat all the tourists, the screening begun at 11pm which meant punters had plenty of time to scale the cliff.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is in cinemas, now.

Gnarly.

In other news, Cruise forced Late Late Show host, James Corden, to jump out of a plane to promote Fallout… as you do.

Enjoy:

Do note Cruise is jumping out of a plane in jeans and a sweater while Corden’s fully suited up.
