Mindhunter

MY LORD, after a long-ass wait we finally know when Mindhunter season two will premiere on Netflix. August, this August.

Executive producer Charlize Theron recently revealed the news on the Howard Stern Show. And that’s it, that’s all we know about a release date… for now.

Good news: More Mindhunter. Bad news: there’s still another three months to wait.

The series is based on retired FBI agent John E. Douglas‘ novel Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, co-written by Mark Olshaker.

In March of this year, Douglas told Vulture that he believes season two will focus on David Berkowitz, known as the Son of Sam, Charles Manson, and the horrific case of the Atlanta Child Killings.

I know they are supposed to be eight episodes [ in season two]. I know the cases. They are going to have David Berkowitz, as well as Charles Manson. The Atlanta child killings in the early ’80s, they’re gonna be covering that. But I’m curious to see how they are going to develop this character.

In the Netflix adaptation, viewers are introduced to FBI special agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), reluctant partners tasked with tracking down and studying serial killers with the help of psychology professor Dr. Wendy Carr (Aussie Anna Torv).

Holden and Bill visit multiple prisons across the country to interview serial killers in an attempt to understand them and capture others.

Season one focused a lot on the disturbed “Co-ed Killer” Edmund Kemper. The American serial killer murdered ten people, including his mother and paternal grandparents, between the years 1964 and 1973.

While we wait for August to roll around, now’s a brilliant time to reacquaint yourself with season one… and Cameron Britton‘s incredible portrayal of Kemper.

Mindhunter is streaming now on Netflix.
