Good news if you like film festivals and even better news if you live in Melbourne, first chance to put eyeballs on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be at Melbourne International Film Festival, and on a beautiful 35mm print no less.

A screening of the newest Quentin Tarantino flick will take place on the festival’s opening weekend, a full 12 days before its release to cinemas. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood follows actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) in 1969 as Dalton navigates a changing Hollywood and gets entangled in the influence of the Manson Family.

Featuring a host of other big names like Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning, and Luke Perry and Australia’s own Margot Robbie and Damon Herriman, the movie will be screening Saturday, August 3 at the Astor Theatre. You can check out ticket details here.

Announced just tonight, the MIFF program is packed will all kinds of juicy stuff, including a Jeff Goldblum marathon with everything from heavy hitters like Thor: Ragnarok and Independence Day to deep, deep cuts like Earth Girls Are Easy and The Tall Guy.
