The ‘Lion King’ Reboot Has Begun And The Boys Took A Group Piccie As Proof

We already knew Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and director Jon Favreau had joined forces to reboot The Lion King, but a new group photo from the recording studio confirms the project is really, truly happening – and that it will very likely rule.

The image, posted to Favreau’s Instagram and quickly shared by Rogen and Eichner, shows three of the key voice actors in the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic.

Glover – decked out in Disney-appropriate Donald Duck sweater in the photo – will voice Simba, the story’s feline protagonist.

Timon and Pumbaa, the meerkat and warthog duo who serve as the tale’s real heroes, will be played by Eichner and Rogen, respectively.

Those three are just a few of the stars commissioned into the project. Beyoncé goddamn Knowles-Carter will play Nala, Simba’s partner.

James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Eric Andre, and Keegan-Michael Key will also fill key roles in the project.

Expect the adaption to roll out some time next year. With any luck, you’ll be able to geek out over more in-studio photos before the flick hits screens.
