Netflix has gifted us our first (well second, but first that we’re actually interested in) romcom trailer for the Chrissy season. And it’s a teen romcom. It’s called Let It Snow and it’s based on a best-selling novel co-written by your favourite author in high school, one Mr John Green.
Co-written by Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle, this festive film is pretty much a handful of holiday romances in one. Think Love Actually vibes but teenagers.
The gist is as follows: When a snowstorm hits a small town on Christmas Eve, several high school seniors discover unexpected opportunities as well as complications that test their friendships, love lives, and aspirations for the future.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina whiz Kiernan Shipka stars in it as does absolute legend Jacob Batalon, Shameik Moore (Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse), YouTube star Anna Akana, Isabela Merced (Instant Family), Odeya Rush (Dumplin’), and Aussie actors Mitchell Hope (The Descendants), and Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet).
Let It Snow hits Netflix, November 8.
Stay tuned for The Knight Before Christmas trailer and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. The former stars Vanessa Hudgens in a film that is not a sequel to The Princess Switch. Instead, as that spectacular name might give away, it’s about a time-travelling knight who falls in love with a disillusioned teacher. The movie’s set to hit the streaming giant November 21, so expect the trailer in a week or so. As for The Royal Baby, that movie will come out December 5. I don’t even understand how there’s a third movie but there is. This time around, an Aldovian artefact has been stolen jeopardising a 600-year-old sacred truce between nations, and Amber – who is also pregnant – has to find the thief before Christmas. Quality.
