LeBron James, Of All People, Is Reportedly Doing A ‘Friday The 13th’ Reboot

Every day, it becomes clearer why LeBron James switched to the closest team to Hollywood, and it’s because of news like this: the NBA superstar and his burgeoning production company are reportedly on the brink of revitalising the Friday The 13th film franchise.

Horror film insiders Bloody Disgusting report the newly-minted Los Angeles Laker and his production company, SpringHill Entertainment, are negotiating the rights to reboot the iconic horror film franchise.

Citing sources with knowledge of the deal, Bloody Disgusting states SpringHill Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment teamed up to ensure Victor Miller, the writer of the original 1980 film, could regain control of the IP.

The news comes at a particularly interesting time for James and horror movies more broadly: SpringHill Entertainment is making big moves, and is tied to the Space Jam sequel and a sitcom based on the life of James’ fellow baller Ben Simmons, while the box office hit Halloween has proven audiences are bloody keen for horror reboots which hew close to the originals.

No director has been tied to the potential project just yet, but James himself has long been known for his Friday The 13th fandom. He can decimate the court, co-found a school, and run a production company, so he may as well give orders to Jason Vorhees on set.

Christ, maybe he can just play Vorhees himself.
