Kendrick Lamar Says He’d Be Down To Play A Villain In ‘Black Panther 2’

Kendrick Lamar curated and produced the soundtrack for Marvel‘s blockbuster hit Black Panther, and in a recent interview, he said that he wouldn’t mind being involved in the sequel – this, time in an acting capacity.

Marvel and Disney have yet to officially announce a second Black Panther, but a sequel seems pretty much guaranteed a this point, so BBC Radio 1, host Clara Amfo went ahead and asked Kendrick if he’d be interested in a “little cameo” in the next one.

“Come on, I got to now!” he said, adding that he especially enjoyed Michael B. Jordan‘s performance as the villain Erik Killmonger. “He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood,” the rapper said. “So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger for sure.”

Kendrick Lamar went on to say that it was a “privilege” to be involved with Black Panther, which has enjoyed tremendous box office success in its first fortnight of release, and that the superhero film “is something that not only stands within its moment but stands within time.”

The Ryan Coogler-directed film is currently in its second weekend of release, and box office analysts are predicting that it will have the fourth-biggest second weekend gross of all time, behind The Force AwakensJurassic World and The Avengers, although it could potentially overtake the latter.
