Hey Geniuses, Jordan Peele’s Company Is Accepting Screenplay Submissions

Hey, here’s something cool if you – like everybody else – consider yourself a burgeoning screenwriter. Jordan Peele‘s production company Monkeypaw Productions has set up a totally open screenplay submission form on its website, meaning you can finally get your script about a guy who saves the president from getting sucked off by aliens out in the world.

Yes, that is a very specific example. No, I will not elaborate.

As you might expect, there’s a whole stack of legal jargon on the form, which is sort of necessary. Most production companies don’t offer open screenplay submissions, preferring to work through the agency system, because it really does open them up to a bunch of liabilities. The Monkeypaw terms and conditions state that merely submitting your screenplay doesn’t mean you’ve entered into a confidential relationship with them, and it also absolves them of any responsibility if they end up producing something with similarities to your submission.

So yes, there is fine print. But it’s also a pretty cool thing if you’ve been banging away at something you reckon has legs. Good opportunity! Why not!
