‘Westworld’ Star Jonathan Tucker Donates FOX Earnings To Refugee Charity

Westworld‘s Jonathan Tucker is the latest actor to speak out against FOX News after the show’s host, Laura Ingraham, compared children detention centres on the Mexican Border to summer camps. The show’s political commentator, Tucker Carlson, also told viewers that “If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations.

On Wednesday, the Westworld star posted a quote by the 40th US President Ronald Reagan, a Republican.

The 36-year-old quoted the President’s farewell address where he spoke of the “shining city” with “people of all kinds living in harmony and peace… if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors, and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here…” 

Tucker prefaced the tweet by saying he used to occasionally watch programs on the network. Now, he’ll be donating all FOX Searchlight, FOX Television, FOX Sports, and 20th Century FOX residuals to RAICES TEXAS. 

RAICES stands for Refugee and Immigrant Centre for Education and Legal Services. The organisation provides free and low-cost legal services to immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas.

Tucker’s projects for FOX include The Practice and the 2001 film The Deep End. 

The actor joined Westworld’s second season and played shitty military man, Major Craddock.

The Kingdom actor then praised Seth MacFarlane for speaking out against the network. On Monday, the Family Guy creator responded to Tucker Carlson’s words by tweeting he was “embarrassed to work for this company.”

Family Guy has aired on FOX for 16 seasons.

Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan also spoke out against the network saying he was “disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with FOX News. This bullshit is the opposite of what Modern Family stands for.”

Tucker, MacFarlane, and Levitan join other names in the industry who have denounced FOX including How I Met Your Mother creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays. 

New Girl creator Liz Merriwether also criticised the network via her Twitter saying she was “horrified, disgusted and furious” with the network’s coverage of the children detention centres.
