‘John Wick 4’ Is Already Coming Because There’s No Such Thing As Too Much Keanu

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has only just hit cinemas, but already Hollywood boffins have their jowls engorged at the scent of a box office winner; so much so that not only have they announced that John Wick 4 is in the works, but they’ve given it a release date as well.

Lionsgate officials alerted fans to fourth instalment in the Keanu Reeves-as-Badass-Dog-Loving-Assassin film series via a text message delivered earlier today that simply read “You have served. You will be of service. John Wick: Chapter 4 is coming – May 21, 2021,” which would make it exactly two years and one day after the release of Parabellum.

Anyone who has seen Parabellum will not exactly be shocked by this news; the third instalment gut-punches viewers by ending in a cliffhanger, which sets the scene for a reported MCU-style extended film franchise.

It’s also not particularly shocking given the success of the franchise; Parabellum opened with a USD$93 million global box office weekend, which easily put it ahead of the Endgame juggernaut which chugs along into its fourth weekend in theatres, and putting it well on-track to overhaul John Wick 2‘s overall total of USD$171.5 million.

Plus, as anyone who’s been within sniffing distance of any of the movies will know: They all kick ass. Every single one of them.

Keanu Reeves shoots bad dudes while riding a horse full-pelt through Brooklyn, for god’s sake.

The only sane and good question is why aren’t there ten of these movies already?

And why hasn’t Keanu been given an Oscar for them yet?

And why isn’t Keanu my friend?

That last one’s probably best left for another day.
