The What We Do In The Shadows co-creator and vampire will star as Dr. Gavin, a marine biologist on Pandora.

If you don’t know too much about the Avatar sequels, here’s what you’ve got to look forward to.

James Cameron‘s Avatar 2 will hit cinemas in 2021 and is the first of four sequels to the 2009 hit. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver will return to star. Lord and saviour Michelle Yeoh, Kate Winslet, and Game of Thrones actor Oona Chaplin have joined the cast… as has Vin Diesel

In terms of unofficial news, the BBC previously reported on the franchise’s leaked titles. If they’re correct, Avatar 2 will be called Avatar: The Way of Water. This might not end up being the name but there’s definitely a strong water theme here. The film’s producer Jon Landeau told Collider about a number of underwater sequences in the movie. Landeau said Winslet learned how to hold her breath for SEVEN MINUTES.

There was one day, we have a tank where she was just rehearsing and testing and we have some windows into it, and I go in there and she’s just walking on the bottom [of the tank] left and right, left and right, left and right, then she sees me in the window and she just waves. I couldn’t believe it!”

Avatar 2 is set to hit cinemas December 17, 2021.

If you’re curious, Variety reports Avatar 3 is scheduled for 2023, Avatar 4 in 2025, and Avatar 5 in 2027. Records will be broken, probably.
