A Mature-Age ‘Sex And The City’ Sequel Series Is Coming, Minus Your Faves

Sex And The City, the blockbuster book from author Candace Bushnell, spawned six classic seasons of television, two uber-successful movies, a prequel series, and a series occupying a very similar universe. Remember Lipstick Jungle? That sure was a thing for a hot minute.

But that’s evidently not enough sex nor city, because Paramount TV is officially moving forward with a follow-up series based on Bushnell’s upcoming book, Is There Still Sex in the City?

Deadline reports the book, and subsequent television series, will follow a cast of characters aged 50 and up as they live, love, and root in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Of course.

The story is set to feature elements outside of sex and cities, mind you. A synopsis for the book reveals portions of the book will take place in a countryside village called The Village, and will also hone in on children, divorce and bereavement.

Bushnell is set to write the pilot and serve as executive producer.

Before we go any further, it is our solemn duty to inform you the show is mighty unlikely to feature Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica-Parker), Samantha Jones Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), or Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon).

It makes sense, if you consider it: outside of the long-running reports of tension between those original cast members, Nixon has made a pretty notable pivot to politics.

There’s no slated date for the TV premiere of Is There Sex And The City?, but we’ll let you know.
