Finn Jones, lead star of the recently cancelled Netflix series Iron Fist, has responded to the show’s sudden death by looking on the bright side of life.

Taking to his Instagram shortly after the news broke, Jones wrote that “with every end is a new beginning.”

“I have an enormous amount of love and respect for everyone involved with the last two seasons of this show. Defending the greatest city in the world amongst the most talented and warmest people has been a privilege and a joy. Blessed to have taken this journey and grateful for the ongoing support.”

Despite better reviews on its second season, it appears the improvement was not enough to save the series that many Marvel fans just weren’t keen on.

Co-star Jessica Henwick, who played Colleen Wing, also responded to the show’s cancellation in an Instagram video highlighting all the good times the cast had on set.

Henwick captioned the video: “Two seasons of Fist, one Defenders, and a Cage later… thank you to the cast, crew and fans for this journey. Playing Colleen changed my life.”

Jones reposted the video to his account.

Yesterday, the overlords at Netflix announced they were dropping the series in a statement:

Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.

Some fans, though disappointed, believe the final line of “…the Iron Fist will live on” suggests Danny Rand may cameo in Netflix’s other Marvel series – Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and The Defenders.
