This is not so much a trailer, rather an incredibly intense scene that involves some delightful Russian roulette.

In it, Luther is tied to a chair as he’s interrogated by old mate George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide), who’s looking for his sonThe detective claims he has no idea where the boy is so of course, Luther is bloody zapped a couple of times. Growing frustrated, Cornelius orders one of his men to play a little game of Russian roulette… except the gun is pointed at Luther’s head.

However being Luther, he finds a way to get out of the deadly situation.

Somehow, that was only two minutes and 15 seconds.

The last time we saw Luther on screen was in 2015, when season four wrapped, but the detective is still looking as good as ever… not that anyone’s surprised.

Back in 2017, BBC announced that the award-winning drama would make a return as a four-part series from writer Neil Cross. The plot is still under wraps but as the news was announced, Cross said there was “so much we don’t know. So much unfinished business.”

“In the end, we picked up the phone to some old friends and asked if they’d like to find out what happens next. It turns out, they would. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to find out what happens next.”

Since then, it has been reported that Ruth Wilson, who stars as the incredibly intelligent but twisted Alice Morgan will return. Back in series four, Morgan supposedly died so things are about to get real interesting.

Wilson confirmed her return in an interview with Independent saying: “[Alice] is in it. It’s not what you expect. She’s definitely back for a bit. She is back with a vengeance.”

There’s yet to be an official release date for the upcoming fifth season but it’s expected to premiere on BBC One.
