Colin Farrell is reportedly on the brink of entering the Batman universe as the first-ever hot incarnation of The Penguin.

According to a report from Deadline, Farrell is currently in talks to play the flightless bird enthusiast Oswald Cobblepot in the upcoming, Matt Reeves-helmed The Batman. The Penguin has previously been portrayed on the silver screen by Danny DeVito, who is pretty much the opposite of Colin Farrell in just about every way conceivable.

Andy Serkis is reportedly also in talks to appear in the film, as Bruce Wayne’s butler, confidante, and surrogate father, Alfred Pennyworth.

The Batman, set to be released in 2021, will feature handsome sad boy icon Robert Pattinson in his first go at playing the man-bat himself (not to be confused with Batman villain named Man-Bat). Paul Dano and Zoë Kravitz will also feature in the film, as The Riddler and Catwoman, respectively.

There is no indication at this stage that Jared Leto’s, uh… ‘interesting’ take on the Joker will be appearing in this movie. Thank christ.
