Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor has scooped up yet another OG cast member with Henry Thomas joining the cast of the stunning anthology series.

Thomas starred as the children’s father Hugh Crain in the ‘before’ chapters of Haunting season 1, The Haunting of Hill House. His older counterpart was played by Timothy Hutton, and might I just say excellent casting.

Brilliant showrunner Mike Flanagan announced the news overnight on Twitter, describing the good man as “inestimable, irreplaceable, invaluable.”

Flanagan tweeted separately that he’ll be making more Bly Manor casting announcements on Twitter over the next day or two so stay absolutely tuned.

If Carla Gugino is not on that list, I RIOT. Although I think she will be. She said she was in talks with Flanagan about season 2 back in June so surely she’s in. SURELY.

Gugino starred as the matriarch Olivia Crain in season 1 with Michiel Huisman as her eldest son Steven, Elizabeth Reaser as Shirley, Kate Siegel as Theodora, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Victoria Pedretti as the twins Luke and Eleanor or Nellie as we knew her.

Of those names, Pedretti and Jackson-Cohen have already been cast in Bly Manor. Pedretti revealed she’ll be playing a governess at Bly named Dani who takes care of two very unusual children. Jackson-Cohen will star as Peter, a charming young man who lives at Bly. Jackson-Cohen said Peter will make “life very difficult for everyone there.”

The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on the works of Henry James, particularly his 1898 psychological Gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw. Flanagan said he already thinks season 2 is “much scarier than season one.”

Yay! There’ll probably be a whole heap of hidden ghosts strewn throughout the episodes too!

“We’re looking at all the ghost stories of Henry James as the jumping-off point for the season, so it very much is a whole new deal,” he told BirthMoviesDeath.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is slated for release in 2020.

You can catch The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix now.

In celebration of Thomas’ return, I give you this lovely promotional clip Netflix shared last year. I love it. Really. It’s simple yet quality shit-yourself material.

There’s a couple of these on YouTube if you’re keen.
