‘High School Musical’ Is Becoming A TV Series & Our Vocal Cords Are Ready

High School Musical TV Series

Get’cha head in the game, High School Musical fans. The made-for-TV Disney musical movie franchise, a modern classic that launched the career of impossibly attractive human Zac Efron, is coming back to our screens as a TV series.

Yes, the timeless, star-crossed love story of maths nerd Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) and basketball star Troy Bolton (Zac), brought together by their mutual desire to belt out bangers in the middle of the school cafeteria, will live on thanks to Disney’s soon-to-be-launched streaming service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the iconic series is part of Disney’s plan to roll out a Netflix-style streaming service in 2019. The outlet reports that Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO Bob Iger confirmed the news during his “quarterly earnings call” with investors.

Iger was clearly feeling generous during this particular phone convo, because he also revealed that a live-action Star Wars TV series is in the works for the still-unnamed streaming platform, as well as a Monsters Inc show.

Though we’re still over a year off the service launching, SIGN US BLOODY WELL UP because this is all awesome.

High School Musical lovers will be frothing to see Troy and Gabriella breaking free on the small screen again along with their fellow Wildcats, ready to bop to the top of our streaming queue as they politely decline society’s pressure to stick to the status quo.

Sorry, I’ll see myself out.
