Harvey Weinstein’s Latest Movie Tanks At The Box Office With $742 Opening

Get out your tiny violins, people: Harvey Weinstein‘s latest flick just completely bombed at the US box office, taking in a sad little total of USD$742. That’s just $976 in Aussie dollarydoos.

Amityville: The Awakening was the first release from The Weinstein Company since Weinstein (who has since been fired from the company) was hit with dozens of sexual misconduct accusations. It opened in just 10 cinemas across the US, and it seems that only a handful of people could be arsed going to see it.

To be fair, the horror flick (starring Bella Thorne) does look pretty atrocious, and only has a 20 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It was shot a few years back and was supposed to be released in 2015, but as TMZ reports, for unknown reasons the release date kept getting pushed back. The movie was also available for free on Google Play just a couple of weeks ago. So why would you pay actual money for it, really.

Basically, the movie’s poor performance can’t be directly linked to Weinstein’s deplorable behaviour. But it’s weirdly satisfying to see it as a big EFF YOU anyway.
