The ‘Harry & Meghan’ Teaser Dropped So Here’s A Bunch Of Awkies Royal Films

Ah totally-100%-based-on-real-life royal TV films, everyone’s favourite. A doco is one thing, but a Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance film is on a whole other level. This one will be hitting televisions May 13 on Lifetime (6 days before the actual Royal Wedding) and people are genuinely excited for it. But of course, it’s not the first romantic royal film to hit our TV screens.

Cast your selves back to 2015 and you’re definitely remember Mary: The Making of a Princess – the film Channel Ten somehow convinced us to watch after about a billion and one ads. Good times.

Anywhoo, the twenty-second teaser trailer dropped yesterday and you can bet your buck it’s uncomfortable to watch.

Here it is.

So good!! Almost looks as good as A Christmas Prince on Netflix.

Now, let’s take a further trip down memory lane at some of the best but worst gooey royal films.

Mary: The Making of a Princess

Even though Princess Mary does not have an Aussie accent anymore or even lives in Tassie, she’s still ours so FremantleMedia put this baby together. Ads started poppin’ up between episodes of Offspring (rip) and Masterchef (still going) and after it premiered the film repeated a couple of times during the next few weeks.

Princess Mary married Prince Frederik in 2004 in Copenhagen, a good jump, skip, and a hop away from home.

William and Kate

This was such a hot mess but a delicious one at that. It’s almost so bad you can’t look away.

Also, yes that is Camilla Luddington AKA Jo Wilson from Grey’s Anatomy.

In real life, baby number three’s coming along for the royal couple to join big brother Prince George and big sister Princess Charlotte. Cannot wait for their movies to come out.

Charles & Camilla: Whatever Love Means

This movie is so bizarre there isn’t even an available trailer on Youtube for it but holy hell it actually exists. Just take a moment to look at that DVD cover ‘cos it’s something else entirely. “Princes Charles” looks bloody bang on, don’t ya reckon?

This movie apparently tells the tale of a young Princes Charles and Camilla who meet and fall in love at an unfortunate time and then Lady Diana steps in and things get awkward x 10. Absolutely riveting.

Diana

Diana‘s probably the most palatable one from all of the above. It stars Naomi Watts as Lady Diana in the months she rebelled against, well, everyone and won the hearts of the people.

W.E

So this movie was directed by Madonna and may still be available on Netflix. It’s actually pretty interesting in its own way and is about Wallis Simpson and King (before he abdicated for love) Edward VIII’s scandalous relationship. It also stars David Habour and Oscar Isaac which is enough reason to actually watch it.
