Sharpen Your Knives, ‘Cos It Looks Like ‘Hannibal’ Revival Talks Are Happening

Big news for fans of people who eat other people: the long-rumoured chats about a possible revival of beloved cancelled show Hannibal seem to be actually happening.

Hannibal was cancelled after its third season back in 2015, and creator Bryan Fuller moved on to create American Gods for Amazon Prime. Fuller hinted in the past that conversations about a new season of Hannibal could only happen two years after the final airing of season 3, which he repeated in a tweet a few days ago.

The reason for that two year delay is that Fuller really wanted to explore elements of The Silence of the Lambs, but the rights for that particular story were still owned by the producers of the classic Jonathan Demme movie, so the showrunners couldn’t touch it.

The novel’s rights revert this month – so that conversation can begin. And it’s very easy to see why producers might be interested. Though Hannibal was cancelled due to low ratings, it has picked up even more of a cult following since it finished, and any connection to The Silence of the Lambs would be sure to get newcomers onboard.

To add fuel to the fire, Hannibal producer Martha De Laurentiis has now tweeted a photo of herself, Fuller and a Hannibal action figure. In the grand scheme of reveals, thats gotta be considered a pretty high-level one.

We wouldn’t be shocked if there’s more news to come here.
