Here’s Who We Think Will Die Next Week In The Big ‘Game Of Thrones’ Battle

After what feels like 4,506 year wait, the dead have finally started knocking on Winterfell‘s door in Game Of Thrones, and we’ve got ourselves a Dead vs. Living battle on our hands. It’s the fight that this entire series has really been about, and that means it’s almost a certainty that we’ll be losing some of our favourite characters in next week’s episode. Sorry, but it’s true.

There are a lot of big names suiting up and grabbing their dragonglass/Valyrian steel weapons, so we’ve deep dived on who we think will cark it (sorry) next Monday.

1. Ser Brienne Of Tarth

Sorry, but I just don’t think a Tormund/Brienne romance is on the cards. The woman still can’t stand the sight of Mr. Free Folk himself, and her story arc has pretty much peaked – she’s just been knighted by Jaime Lannister, she’s gotten the Stark kids back to Winterfell, she’s taught Podrick how to fight… I think we’ll see this Knight fall in a blaze of glory, likely at the hand of a White Walker.

2. Tormund

If Brienne goes, what story arc is left for Tormund? The guy survived The Wall collapsing, but I don’t think he’s going to fare so well against the wights this time. Again, his story has really wrapped up – I think he’ll make a heroic decision to sacrifice himself for the sake of the safety of others, maybe to a swarm of wights.

3. Samwell Tarly

Sam has been super useful – he got all the important info on how to defeat the dead from the Citadel, and just casually uncovered the truth about Jon/Aegon’s birthright while he was at it. Oh, and he healed Jorah from fucken greyscale. He’s done a LOT, is what I’m saying – and while he did kill the first White Walker, he’s not exactly Captain Battle-Man-2000, is he. I think Sam will sadly pass on Monday.

4. Cersei Lannister

Ooooooh, controversial no? Well – have you read this really good theory on what exactly will happen during the Winterfell battle? It basically suggests that the Night King is going to fly Dead Viserion to Kings Landing, not to the magic tree where Bran is waiting like the weird little tree-staring shit he is now. If the Night King heads to Kings Landing, I think we’ll see Cersei die very abruptly in the final minute of Monday’s episode. The show LOVES to kill big names off suddenly when it makes sense to (hello? Ned? Joffrey? Margaery, the High Septon and Loras?) and to kill Cersei at the hands of the Night King in a shock twist? Major.

5. Sansa Stark

There’s another theory circling that the crypts aren’t safe – if the Night King can resurrect the dead, theories abound that he’ll resurrect dead Starks that have long been buried down in those dark corridors. If so – it means the women and children of Winterfell will be in big trouble. So if that’s the way this episode goes, I think Sansa might die trying to save everyone else. Hey, she’s Lady of Winterfell and a massively courageous woman – she would fight to the death, for sure.

6. Grey Worm

This one is almost a guarantee, right? He’s leading the Unsullied army directly into battle with thousands of the Undead, who never tire. He will fight courageously and die courageously.

What do you guys think? It’s contentious for sure – sound off in the comments on social media if you like, we’re keen to hear your thoughts.
