Featuring snippets of the surviving characters before, during, and maybe even just after their climactic battle against the undead, the sweet little snippet reminds fans of what’s at stake. Namely, uh, everything.
Genuinely. There’s Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) charging through some catacombs. There’s her sis, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) having a geez at Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) dragons as they flap over Winterfell. Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) makes a brave promise not to fight for the frigid zombie boys, while his sister and incestuous squeeze Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) contemplates the fact she may have well and truly cooked it.
It features none other than Gendry (Joe Dempsie) manning the smithy before those swords are put to the final test. Given the fact he’s the illegitimate son of former King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), and the decision to devote half a second of trailer time to his bald noggin, we feel very confident in saying he will be the one to man the Iron Throne at the end of it all.
Also, just quietly, it shows Jon Snow (Kit Harington) ambling towards the aforementioned dragons. If he ends up flying one of those scaly units…
