There are still many, many unanswered questions in the Game Of Thrones universe. Who will ascend to the Iron Throne? Which one of our favourites is destined to cark it? And when will George R. R. Martin slap the finishing bloody touches on The Winds Of Winter?

The third question feels basically unanswerable at this point, but we finally have a timeframe for the unravelling the first two: the final season of Game Of Thrones will premiere in the first half of 2019, according to HBO programming president Casey Bloys.
Speaking at a Television Critics Association press event this week, Bloys revealed the last six episodes of the fantasy epic will explode into our eyeballs within the next eleven months, but did not elaborate much further than that.
Well, he did say the ending of the series is “pretty great.” So, there’s that.
Additionally, Bloys also dropped a couple of updates on the progress of the Game Of Thrones spin-offs being developed by HBO. One of ’em, a series focussing on the battle between men and the White Walkers a thousand years before the events of Game Of Thrones, is set for a pilot episode. The remainder are in various stages of development.
We’ll let you know when Martin pens the finishing touches on his saga, but you may be seeing the end of the television series well before then.
