‘Game Of Thrones’ Director Finally Clears Up What An Undead Dragon Breathes

The Game of Thrones season finale left us with about a thousand-and-one questions, but one that nobody could quite come to a conclusion on was what the hell the undead Viserion actually was.

You know, aside from the obvious. It’s a dragon. Duh.

Does the undead dragon breath ice? Or fire? And why did it have to die? *sob*

The confusing thing here is that ice dragons already exist in the Game of Thrones universe, and fans have been chomping at the bloody bit to see one.

But ‘The Dragon and the Wolf‘ director Jeremy Podeswa has finally cleared things up: no, that’s not an actual ice dragon, and yes, he’s breathing fire.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, he said:

“The way I looked at it was, when the sept burned down, that was green fire, and so then the dragon is going to have some kind of blueish fire. It’s certainly still fire — it has the ability to burn the Wall and melt snow. But it’s going to have a different kind of magical quality to it, because it’s coming from an undead dragon.”

Guess ice dragons will remain in the folklores of Westeros. For now, anyway.
