Frances McDormand Gets V Sweary In The Red Band ‘Three Billboards’ Trailer

The mother of a raped and murdered child going on a rampage against the small-town police who refuse to take the case seriously isn’t ordinarily the premise you’d expect to see attached to any movie rocking the label “comedy.” But then again Martin McDonagh isn’t exactly known for his light and cheery settings.

The man behind such pitch-black and gut-bustingly funny comedies like In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths is preparing to unleash his latest creation unto the world, and from all early accounts it’s going to be a serious contender come awards season time.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri tracks Frances McDormand as the foul-mouthed and extremely vengeful mother of a murdered girl who sets out to hold the local police force, led by Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell, accountable for not making any arrests a year after the fact.

The film premiered in competition at the currently on-going Venice Film Festival and the response thus far has been overwhelmingly glowing, not just for McDonagh’s snappy and richly written script which is already drawing Oscar buzz, but for the brash yet nuanced performances from McDormand and Rockwell.

The red-band trailer for the flick dropped earlier today, and if you like the idea of McDormand barging into a cop shop and shouting “HEY FUCKHEAD” at Sam By-God Rockwell, then this is gonna be right up your alley.

The extended cast also includes John HawkesPeter DinklageAbbey Cornish, and ‘Strayas own niece-of-Hugo Samara Weaving.

It’s due for release in Australian cinemas on January 1st, 2018.
