Fk Yeah, Mitchell & Webb Say ‘Peep Show’ Could Return To Screens One Day

Rejoice, Peep Show fans, it is not very often that your favourite show goes off the air seemingly forever, only to be given a faint sense of hope that maybe you will see those characters again. Even if it’s in a while. Ten years. Or so.

But that is exactly what has happened, with Peep Show stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb giving fans a whiff of the idea that they might see their beloved Mark Corrigan and Jeremy ‘Jez’ Usbourne once more.

It all came about because Webb and Mitchell have reunited with Peep Show writer Simon Blackwell for a new show that has just started screening in the UK, called Back. The show follows a guy named Stephen (Mitchell), who is forced to take over his father’s pub when he dies, and is constantly having conflict with Webb’s Andrew, a former foster child of his parents.

In an interview with NME to discuss the new show, the boys also discussed the possibility of their iconic characters making a return to the screen one day, with Mitchell confirming they’d already discussed it.

When it ended, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and Rob and I agreed that we would be up for doing a return to those characters in 10 or more years time. I think it would be a different show. I think we would give it a different name but I’d certainly love to work with Sam and Jesse again and I think they would be interested to write those characters again but basically at the other end of their lives when they’re 50 odd or even older.

Webb agreed, seemingly envisioning some sort of Golden Girls style show, which honestly I would 100% be in for.
In its perfect form, it is over. I know that all four of us have said that we’re keeping the door on the latch for a return when Mark and Jeremy are much older and I mean seriously older otherwise it’s just a tired reboot.
So hold on, for a short ten or twenty years, and you may yet get your peepers on your fave show.
