We Might Not Get To See ‘Fargo’ Season 4 Until 2020, Dontcha Know

Those of you holding your breath for a fourth season of the ever-excellent Fargo might want to exhale for a little while; it appears we’re still a ways off from getting it.

Showrunner Noah Hawley is a busy man nowadays, what with the fact that he casually scored another hit series on FX in Legion and such.

He’s also got a number of feature films already on the go as well, including the sci-fi flick Pale Blue Dot which has Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm attached, a Doctor Doom feature film project, and a limited series adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut‘s Cat’s Cradle.

The dance card, in other words, is full to the brim.

Combine all that with potentially more Legion to worry about, and the bad news is that Fargo has to take something of a back seat for the time being.

The good news, however, is that Hawley is outwardly confident of getting S4 rolling by next year at the latest, meaning it’ll likely appear on screens at some point in 2020 (which sounds like it’s way off in the future, but in reality it’s now under two years away fucken jesus).

Speaking to The Wrap, Hawley stated that Fargo demands a winter production schedule – because of the snow, don’t ya know – meaning at the earliest cameras will begin rolling in late 2019.

I think realistically we will certainly be filming it next year. Mostly just because it’s a winter show. You know, I have to write [the episodes], then we have to prep it, then we have to film it, which means it’s either this coming winter or next winter.

Given my schedule with making a movie and posting a movie this summer, and then gearing up to do more Legion assuming we get a pickup. It seems like a long shot that I can launch Fargo 4 this winter.

The bad news? It ain’t coming anytime real soon.

The good news? It is comin’, and that’s aces.
