The Entire ‘Lion King’ Cast Just Got Confirmed & HOLY SHIT BEYONCÉ

Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh MAN. Deep breaths. Remain calm. Everything’s gonna be a-ok. But SWEET MERCIFUL JESUS FREAKIN’ BEYONCÉ IS GONNA BE IN THE LIVE-ACTION LION KING MOVIE.

We already knew the bulk of the voice cast for the upcoming live-action remake, which is set to hit cinemas in 2019, but Disney today confirmed the entire cast in a post to Twitter ending rampant speculation that the Queen Bey was going to grace the screen once again (or, y’know, at least her voice is).

Disney finally confirmed that Beyoncé would be filling the lead role of Nala, alongside Donald Glover who was previously announced as the precocious air to Pride Rock Simba.

The extended cast also includes the glorious baritone of James Earl Jones as the ill-fated patriarch Mufasa, the incredible Chiwetel Ejiofor as the brooding and dastardly ScarJohn Oliver as the sycophantic ZazuSeth Rogen and Billy Eichner as the comedic foils Timon and Pumbaa, as well as Eric Andre (!!!), Keegan-Michael Key (!!!), and JD McCrary, who fills the role of Young Simba after previously appearing on the Childish Gambino track ‘Terrified.’

The Jon Favreau-directed flick uses the phrase “live-action” reasonably loosely, given the cast is entirely voice acted and there are no actual human characters present in the film. However he has previously stated that the film will be using the same photorealistic CGI employed on Favreau’s remarkably good remake of The Jungle Book to bring the animals of the lion’s kingdom to life.

The Lion King is officially due out sometime around mid-2019. Hold onto your butts.
