Ed Sheeran Knows Nobody Wants To See Him Appear In ‘GoT’ Ever Again

It’s pretty clear that Ed Sheeran‘s turn on Game of Thrones was basically the most pointless thing that happened in the entire season. The value of celebrity cameo’s in fantasy / historical media hinges on how subtly or sensitively it’s done, and they did not do that with poor ol’ Ed.

Rather than giving him, say, a second-long blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in a battle or something, they instead decided to give him lines, and a song, and have him hang around on screen like a bad smell for several minutes. The absolute best reaction you could possible have to his scene is “Oh look. It’s Ed Sheeran, the singer.”

Well, worry not – Ed knows that nobody is keen to see his character in GoT ever again. In fact, he says, his character is probably very dead.

“We were all quite young, those soldiers,” Sheeran told MTV News. “I doubt I’m going to survive for that long, to be honest, when there are dragons in the world.

He said he’s glad that he took the gig, which was a “very easy yes”, but he’s acutely aware of the fact that there aren’t exactly Thrones maniacs out there clamouring for his return.

“No one wants to see me come back,” he said. “I wanted to be a cameo in it, and I’ve done the cameo.”

“I’m cool with it, though. I enjoyed it.”

Look, some respect. I too would ruin an episode of a beloved show so I could get my fucked up mug onscreen for a couple of minutes.
