Try to contain yourselves, because overnight, the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 was officially announced, along with the premiere date, and it’s happening soon! Like, really, really soon! December 14 (December 15 for us) soon, to be precise! That’s just over a month until we get to see ten of our favourite queens competing to see who’ll join Chad Michaels, Alaska and Trixie Mattel in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
As for who’ll be coming back, well, let’s just say that this cast leaves All Stars 3 in the damn dust, with a really exciting mix of old and new talent from all across the previous seasons of the show. The ten sickening queens are:
- Monét X Change (Season 10)
- Trinity Taylor (Season 9)
- Farrah Moan (Season 9)
- Valentina (Season 9)
- Monique Heart (Season 10)
- Jasmine Masters (Season 7)
- Naomi Smalls (Season 8)
- Gia Gunn (Season 6)
- Manila Luzon (Season 3 and All Stars 1)
- Latrice Royale (Season 4 and All Stars 1)
This will make Manila and Latrice the first queens to compete on three different seasons of the show since Shangela.
The Drag Race All Stars format typically sees the queens eliminating each-other, rather than the judges doing it, although that approach has proved controversial in recent times.
There’s no word on whether that will continue, although RuPaul has promised some kind of shake-up, telling Entertainment Weekly:
“The girls on All-Stars 4 are exciting and they have so much more to show. I think it will shock fans, although I don’t think they’ll be as disappointed. We always try to do something fresh and interesting, and sometimes it turns out in a way that you don’t really expect. I love Trixie [Mattel]. She’s a real superstar, but I really didn’t count on the other girls who came back being so vindictive [and voting against Shangela].”
Is this a great cast of what? As a wise queen once said … absolutely. I am already stressing because I don’t want any of these girls to get eliminated.
