For those who might not be aware, FORD v FERRARI is actually based on the very true story of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, who are tasked with creating a car that could beat the living hell out of the Ferrari team in an endurance race called Le Mans. The film depicts the turbulent and powerful friendship between Shelby and Miles, two mavericks united by a passion for innovation who overcome incredible odds to achieve something extraordinary.
Put to work by Henry Ford II – who was frankly sick and bloody tired of Ferrari winning top place on the podium – the team created the Ford GT40, a monstrous car that could finally stand up to the Italian contenders.
Damon plays car designer Shelby, while Bale plays professional race car driver, Miles, who does a stellar job of nailing yet another movie accent in his performance. The duo goes on quite the journey together which includes terrifying speeds, some big spills, and an incredible battle to overcome the laws of physics, corporate roadblocks, and personal demons to get team Ford over the finish line.
