Here’s A Look At The Live-Action ‘Dora The Explorer’ Flick Which Is A Thing

Here’s a doozy for you. Dora the Explorer, the live-action film adaption is currently in the works and stars 17-year-old Isabela Moner who you may know from such titles as Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

Why is Dora copping a live-action teenage version of herself? I don’t know but here we are.

Cast your minds back to afternoons spent watching Nickelodeon and you’ll remember when Dora used to lead you on adventures accompanied by her monkey friend, Boots. Together they’d get your brain thinking through countless puzzles and games, often sabotaged by the cheeky fox, Swiper.

Production on the film has officially begun with The Muppets director James Bobin taking the wheel on a script he co-wrote alongside Nick Stoller as per The Hollywood Reporter. But wait for it, Stoller directed the absolute classic that is Forgetting Sarah Marshall, as well as Get Him to the Greek, Neighbours, and Storks.

So, there is potential.

It is still early days so the plot of the film is unknown. But I guess it’s safe to say our fave explorer will be embarking on some type of adventure, with or without some audience participation like the good ol’ days.

Anywhoo, here’s your first look at Moner as Dora:

The film co-stars Eugenio Derbez, Madeleine Madden, Micke Moreno, and Nicholas Coombe just to name a few.

Upon being cast in the iconic role Moner said she was “honoured and excited to bring Dora to life. I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model — she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl.”

Dora the Explorer will take you on another adventure in 2019.
