Director Danny Boyle And Daniel Craig Locked In For ‘James Bond’ 25

It’s officially happening – Daniel Craig is sacrificing his body to the film gods again as he steps back into the role of Britain’s best albeit messed up Secret Service agent James Bond. This will be the 25th addition to the franchise and will be led by Oscar-Winning director Danny Boyle.

Bond 25 will be Craig’s overall fifth contribution to the franchise.

Though James Bond has been going on for years, here’s some incredibly fresh air – Boyle has Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire to his name. Boyle will also team up with ol’ mate and writer John Hodge who also worked on Trainspotting.

Translation: James Bond just got interesting again ‘cos if the pattern rings true, then this Bond film should be a good one. Just think of the beauty of Casino Royale and then whatever Quantum of Solace was which got completely trumped by Skyfall and then… Spectre. A lot happened in that last one, a lot.

Hodge has written the original screenplay for Bond 25 with production to begin on 3 December 2018.

Oh, and Boyle is the man behind the 2012 London Olympics’ Opening Ceremony AKA he somehow convinced the Queen to take part in that epic James Bond themed entrance so again, Bond 25 is looking promising.

Royally cool on many levels.

Bond’s official twitter confirmed the news of the film earlier this evening:

During Craig’s reign as Bond, we’ve had a very high calibre of evil villains. First came Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre, skip one and we got an extremely terrifying Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, and then we got Christopher Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Waltz is a genius and brilliant human being but holy hell, the man is painfully intimidating and it has everything to do with Inglorious Basterds and Spectre. So whoever’s next somehow has to top Waltz, Bardem, and Mikkelsen – good luck to them.

James Bond enthusiasts are absolutely stoked with the news:

Away from the camera, Craig and his wife and fellow actor Rachel Weisz are expecting their first bub together. Weisz announced the news in an interview with The New York Times in April.

The 25th Bond film is set for release 25 October 2019.
