Guillermo Del Toro Says He Spent Years Perfecting A Fish Monster’s Thicc Ass

It goes without much saying that Guillermo del Toro‘s movies contain some of the most interesting and intricate creature design ever put to film, and this plays a large part in why he’s considered the big dog in fantasy and horror these days. The Shape of Water‘s fish creature was no different: apparently del Toro and his team took three years to perfect his design, including a deliciously thicc ass.

This particular intel comes from an interview nestled in the art book for the film, as revealed by this tweet:

As the film literally concerns a love affair between a woman and a fish monster, del Toro’s knack for overseeing the design of creatures with startlingly (and disturbingly) human features would be paramount. From the above interview:

“Every female in the del Toro household was crucial. Too much derriere, not enough derriere, the shoulders are not beautiful enough.’ The butt we show abundantly in the movie. it was a very delicate sculpture process because it always had to be run by my household. All in all, this was the longest gestation period for a creature design—three years counting from 2013 to 2016!”

Imagine being del Toro’s wife and having him come home with various fish dude ass designs, asking you to determine the sexiness of each ass. That, my friends, is true love as I understand it.

You heard it here, folks. The fish has a beautiful ass. Be still my beating heart. The Shape of Water hits Aussie cinemas on the 18th of January.
