There’s Already A ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Sequel In The Works Based On Book 2

Crazy Rich Asians hasn’t even hit Australia yet and things are going down in America – and by down I mean it looks like the film’s going to cop a sequel.

This is fab news because now we won’t have to wait another 25 years for an entirely Asian-American cast to make a film.

Written by Kevin Kwan, Crazy Rich Asians is just the first book in the trilogy. Following it is China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problemsthe latter only recently published in 2017.

Per the exclusive by The Hollywood ReporterWarner Bros. is already in the planning stages for the sequel with the original creative team. Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu is also likely to return to spin his magic despite his very busy schedule.

It’ll probably be a little while until we have confirmation of a sequel but if the decision’s based on the box office, then things are looking real good. According to Box Office MojoCrazy Rich Asians has made over $44 million USD since its release in the United States. In it’s opening weekend, the film made $26,500,000 USD making it the best performing comedy of 2018 in its opening weekend.

Producer Brad Simpson also told THR: “We have a plan with Kevin for the next two films.” So, things are looking damn good.

Crazy Rich Asians will finally land in Aussie cinemas, August 30. Give your local cinema a suss if you’re keen on some advanced screenings.

Fresh Off The Boat‘s Constance Wu stars as New Yorker Rachel Chu who accompanies her partner of several years, Nick Young (Henry Golding) to his good friend’s wedding in Singapore.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a spicy romcom without a secret and Nick has one – he belongs to one of the wealthiest families in Singapore, lead by a matriarch who is not very keen on Rachel and her peasant-ness.

Aussie Chris Pang, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Jeong, Harry Shum Jr, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, and Ronny Chieng all co-star.

Speaking of fabulous romcoms, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is currently blessing people’s lives on Netflix.

I’m sure you’ve heard about it, maybe even watched it five times already, but there’s also been some potential sequel news there. Minor SPOILER ALERT, but if you’ve read the books and watched the post-credits scene then you’ll know that’s a bit of a hint to P.S I Still Love You.

Lana Condor and Noah Centineo are all for it.
